About Us

Spartanburg County School District Six is proud to announce Mrs. Catherine Pogue as principal of Jesse S. Bobo. Pogue is no stranger to the JSBES family, having served as assistant principal there for four years. As a graduate of Dorman High School, Pogue says she believes in the mission and vision of Spartanburg County School District Six. β€œThe students, staff, parents, and community make our school exceptional and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for us. I would personally like to thank Superintendent Dr. Darryl Owings and the School District Six Board of Trustees as we continue to create an environment where children are always first.” Pogue began her career as a 6th-grade math teacher at Dawkins Middle School in 2005.

Mrs. Pogue's vision and beliefs about being a school's administrator are as follows: At Jesse Bobo, we envision a school where students, parents, faculty, staff and community work together to provide challenging and engaging instruction and a positive school climate that results in 100% of students graduating college and career ready!

When parents send their children to our school, they are sending them to a safe/nurturing environment and one that will engage students to become life long learners. Students will leave our school as exceptional readers, writers and problem solvers.
Jesse Bobo is also thrilled to welcome into a new role Mr. Steven Mills as our assistant principal.  Mr. Mills began his teaching career in 2009 at Fairforest Middle School as aide in a special education classroom.    As a former student of Jesse S. Bobo Elementary, Mr. Mills was enthusiastic about returning to Jesse Bobo Elementary as a teacher in 2012.  He taught third grade classes here from 2012 to 2016, which built strong relationships with students, families, and the school community.  "I envision Jesse Bobo rising to become one of the best elementary schools in the state of South Carolina, through quality teaching and the hard work of our students."
Mr. Mills believes that all students have the ability to learn and become successful in life.  The key components of student success, according to Mr. Mills, are student engagement and a rigorous curriculum driven forward by great teachers.  His dedication to improving classroom instruction though innovative methods and integrated curriculum will serve Jesse Bobo well.
