School History and Profile
Jesse S. Bobo Elementary School is a Title I school located just inside the city limits of Spartanburg on the southwest side of town. Since opening its doors in 1972, the school has proudly served generations of learners and is named in honor of Mr. Jesse S. Bobo, a longtime member of the Spartanburg County Board of Education whose commitment to public education continues to inspire our work today.
Situated on an expansive eighty acre campus on Powell Mill Road, just off U.S. Highway 29, Jesse S. Bobo Elementary serves a diverse and growing community of approximately six and a half square miles, bordered by U.S. Highway 29 to the south and Interstate 85 to the north. As the surrounding community has evolved over the years, so too has our school, welcoming students from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
At the heart of Jesse S. Bobo Elementary are the children who walk through our doors each day. Their curiosity, resilience, and unique talents shape the spirit of our school and drive our commitment to excellence. Our students are supported by a devoted and compassionate staff who believe deeply in nurturing the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally. Teachers and staff work tirelessly to create a safe, welcoming environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
Through innovative instructional practices and a variety of supplemental programs, Jesse S. Bobo Elementary strives to help each child reach their fullest potential. Together, our students, families, and staff form a caring school community dedicated to developing confident, capable learners who are prepared to become lifelong learners and responsible, productive citizens.
